After a busy year of designing and planning, we were extremely excited to unveil a sneak peak of our ‘new look’ in the quirky streets of Soho this September.

We invited many of our wonderful retailers and press guests from a number of magazines to show what we’ve been working on throughout 2017.

Not only do we have an eclectic range of new collections but also a revitalised design for our much-loved brand. Our Cotswold heritage is a part of our story which makes us incredibly proud and this will always be the foundations of David Hunt lighting; but we are now introducing an exciting modern twist.

As a British manufacturer, we have a fantastic team in our Cotswolds workshop who give life to our many designs. They have perfected timeless techniques to create our handmade products and that is something we really wanted to explain in Soho.

A single design may go through a dozen pairs of hands before it’s finished and boxed. This means that a number of handcrafted processes and intricate detailing will be applied in specialist departments within our workshop. The collection that we chose to detail in Soho was our Saddler table lamp. Made from resin, the Saddler is finished to replicate genuine handstitched leather.  As you can see below, there is a number of stages before our finished table lamp is ready. We start by visiting a local saddler who will cover an MDF design in real leather. This is then used to create a master mould, which is then used to create a manufacturing mould. Resin is a material that allows us to recreate even the finest of detail for our intended finish and this is how the original leather stitching is replicated on our Saddler table lamps.

David Hunt lighting production manager, Steve Hillman, gave guests a fantastic insight into our workshop methods and how our manufacturing processes have developed over the years.

Our chosen venue, 15 Bateman Street, was perfectly suited to David Hunt lighting with its traditional features, including a striking fireplace which gave character to our entrance set.

Utilising the individual spaces, we created a theme for each room. Our Antler display evoked the rustic highlands and our metal spun pendants were displayed alongside our recent collaboration with Marston and Langinger. This really reiterated our bespoke capabilities because guests could visualise how products can be painted in a unique colourway to suit their intended installation.

We really enjoyed our visit to Soho and hope that our guests did too. A special thanks to Life’s Kitchen, Marston and Langinger and Wildcard PR who all helped to bring this event together. Not forgetting our fantastic team at David Hunt as none of this would have been possible without the hard work and time they put in.
